The Return of the Happy House!
Tony and his wife
Helene Bowall are also known as 'the Happy Artists' and, for over six years have taken part each year in the Brighton and Hove Artists' Open Houses festival by opening their home, the Happy House, to the public. After a year's break to look after the needs of Sam the Dog, we opened once more for Xmas 2011 but our Open House season is now over.
Of course, when not running Open Houses we welcome visitors
at any time of the year by appointment where you will be able to purchase any of Tony's work and/or commission new unique work. See the
contact page for details. Just give Tony a little notice (often just an hour or two is all he needs!) if you plan to visit. You will, of course, have the opportunity to meet Helene too and look at lots of Tony's work.
The Happy House was a favourite venue with both new and regular Open House visitors who came to see and buy Tony's photography and Helene's pastels year after year.
At their previous most recent Open House visitors could see Tony's 'Beach Hut Portraits' series featuring photographs of EVERY Beach Hut (over 460) in Hove as well as his incredibly popular Beach Huts In The Snow images, which have been featured in many publications, including The Observer. He is currently working on a new floral series, both outside in nature and in the studio which we are both very excited about!
They also would have also seen many photographs from his travels, including his trips to India and Venice, as well as his legendary photographs taken on the Greek island of Santorini.
Of course there was also a selection of contemporary pastels by Helene. Helene's work complements Tony's photography perfectly. Her beautiful pastels include colourful depictions of textures, flower and human figures. We also had work from three surprise guests!
Helene has exhibited with the Lewes Artists Group and at the Claremont House Hotel in Hove, as well as at the Happy House during the Brighton festival.
